When Trista found out she was moving to Wichita, she was thrilled to hear about Watermark Books and enjoyed it as a customer and now bookseller. She is a former special education teacher and loves middle grade and YA books. But also reads grown-up books sometimes...
One of my favorite books of 2018!
These stories, poems and illustrations are ones you will want to revisit over and over.
One of my favorite books of 2019.
Could not put this book down! Young adult memoir about a teenager in 1986 with a brain tumor who, when granted a wish through the Starlight Children's Foundation, wishes to meet with Mikhail Gorbachev to discuss nuclear disarmament. Beautifully written and filled with so much we can all relate to; families, friendships, loss and first loves. Truly wonderful!
At its essence a book about motherhood and how we can at one moment be totally depleted and wishing for our pre-children life and at the very next, be so in love with our kids that we can't even imagine life without them.
All of this wrapped in a total page-turner complete with a terrifying stranger showing up in the living room and bizzare items being excavated from a pit. Creepy and wonderful and thought provoking!
A tiny, experimental, hightech community living in communion with the Washington forest is suddently cut off from the rest of the world when Mt. Rainier erupts. They quickly realize how much they rely on their technology and on the outside world as winter approaches. And just when they think things can't get any worse, Bigfoot shows up! A suspenseful survival story that looks at what it takes to turn people into animals.
I totally disappeared into this book just as the main character disappears into a haunted brownstone trying to figure out what happened to his mother.
