Then & Now Book Club meets at 8:00 a.m. on the fourth Friday of each month in the café.  This book club's emphasis is history, written by classic as well as contemporary authors.  Eric Cale, the club's leader, is the director of the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum.   Grab a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll from the cafe and join in the discussion!

A Short Introduction to Then & Now Book Club:

1. What book has been your group's favorite selection this past year?  Why?  The nonfiction we read tends to be encyclopedic in scope and spans history and the world, so it's hard to choose just one favorite. The stand-out selection for 2019, however, had to be Sarah Smarsh's Heartland because it captures our own specific time and place, something we haven't encountered in other Then & Now Book Club selections.

2. How would you describe your book club to a prospective member?  These readers aren't daunted by scholarly books, yet they also enjoy lighter fare...and they are early birds who are ready for a lively discussion first thing in the morning.
