Pride of Eden by Taylor Brown, review by Hannah Reidell

Describing this book is hard. It's difficult to pin down.

And I think that's entirely the point.

This book is wild. It's passionate. It's fierce. It's untamed.

It is a perfect reflection of the majestic, beautiful animals that fill its pages, who feel as though they are going to leap from out of the book with every line you read. There is a power, a thrill, and a slight degree of fear as you turn the page. These beasts are meant to be free, roaming the planet they own, that we temporarily borrow from them.

This book will remind you of why we once lived jointly in fear and awe of lions and tigers and wolves. It will make you feel shame for what we have done to these creatures.

And chapter 14 might make you cry.

I liked this book a lot. I can't really explain why. It's just the feelings it produces.

It's the animals.
