Beloved Wichita writer and illustrator Grant Snider has really been blowing up lately, both in town and across the country, with his new graphic ode to books and book lovers, as well as his newest children’s picture book. But Grant isn’t the only local author writing excellent picture books for children! Allow me to introduce you to some other wonderful local children’s book authors, whose books you may find at Watermark, or on our website 24/7.

Andrea Cassell, first known in Wichita as an excellent cookbook writer, now has a third book out in her Kibby Series. Kibby and Olive Move to Georgia revisits adorable puppers Kibby and Olive as they travel to their new home in the south. Andrea herself recently made the move, though she’s back in Wichita semi-regularly for events at Watermark! Be sure to also check out her first two books in the series, Kibby the Space Dog and Kibby Gets a Little Sister!  Bonus: we also have the cutest plush Kibby and Olive dolls at Watermark, as well!

Tim Raglin has been delighting Kansas children for years, and his books are just glorious. They’re big! They’re beautiful! They’re adventurous and hilarious! Take a look at his Scott and West Complete Stories of Adventure, The Curse of Catunkhamun! and Footsteps in Katmandudu! And don’t forget about Yankee Doodle Mugsy, come the Fourth of July.

Kansas librarian extraordinaire Bev Buller has some excellent biographies for young readers. Pick up From Emporia: The Story of William Allen White and also A Prairie Peter Pan: the Story of Mary White to learn more about this Kansas icon. Bev is doing excellent work with the William Allen White Awards committee each year, and it is always a delight to see her in Watermark!

Keep on shopping and reading local at Watermark Books!
