A book of poems speaking out against sexual assault, written by poets from Kansas, Kansas City, or those who are Kansas-connected. There is a highlight of Kansas Poets Laureate and the current Missouri Poet Laureate from KC.
This book carries trigger warnings, as well as a resistance to oppressive aspects of Kansas and American culture. We know that because of this culture it is difficult to discuss sexual assault, as shame, silence, and denial have been pushed upon survivors and those who would speak up.
We find it both difficult and a relief that #MeToo happened and continues, that we could publicly affirm and see each other in the news and social media as survivors. This book is part of that affirmation.
