Watermark Book Club

The selection for this meeting is The Stranger in the Woods by Michael Finkel.

Meeting schedule:  Fourth Monday of each month

Time:  6:30 p.m.

Place:  Author Autograph Gallery (basement)

Leader:  Anna Flynn

This book club reads general literary fiction & non-fiction. It doesn’t have a spiffy title because it's Watermark's original book club. Its leader Anna Flynn has always been a reader with Rummer Godden being one of her childhood favorites.  Anna likes to read a variety of books--historical fiction being one of her favorites.  Anna feels there's always something you can learn from a book, even fiction novels.  "A book is a trip only you can take within its pages, and to be in a book club to share that trip is like the icing on a cake!"

A Short Introduction to the Watermark Book Club:

1. What book has been your group's favorite selection this past year?  Why?  Commonwealthby Ann Patchett.  Commonwealth, the story of a blended and somewhat dysfunctional family, engendered great discussion by all participants. Told with both humor and heartbreak, this book explores all kinds of love and loyalties.

2. How would you describe your book club to a prospective member?  We're a book group that reads all genres, mostly in paperback.  We try to read a varied selection, so we are not limited to just fiction.  Our participants are diverse and very well-read--which leads to good discussions and questions.  The best part?  We enjoy each other's company and laugh a lot!
