A Short Introduction to the Mystery Book Club:
1. What book has been your group's favorite selection this past year? Why? It's hard to choose, but if popularity is reflected in sales, then The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson and The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin were definite bestsellers at Watermark as well as being New York Times bestsellers. Our Mystery Book Club loved them both.
2. How would you describe your book club to a prospective member? The Mystery Book Club--in existence since 2004--has an eclectic group of loyal members who love mysteries and thrillers. They are always excited to go beyond the theme of the book by analyzing how the book and characters relate to today's popular/cultural events. The members are never at a loss for words, resulting in lively discussions, whether the chosen book was a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down."
