A Short Introduction to Longitude:

1. What book has been your group's favorite this past year? Why?  The Door by Magda Szabo.  Taking place after the brutal Hungarian Revolution, the book describes a very interesting relationship between a bold housekeeper and the couple who employ her.  The revolution shaped all their lives, and the housekeeper turns out to the the town fixture who all others depend on.

2. How would you describe your book club to a prospective member?  We read fiction, nonfiction, mysteries, and a variety of other genres that have to do with other cultures around the world, including books by foreign authors.
