A Short Introduction to Classic Book Club:
1. What book has been your group's favorite selection this past year? Why? The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte and Cassandra at the Wedding by Dorothy Baker were the top two choices. Both books surprised us with their originality and depth. And they show the range of classics that we read as well--one published in 1848 and the other in 1962.
2. How would you describe your book club to a prospective member? The Classic Book Club reads books that are considered "classics"--ones that have withstood the test of time, whether that time period is over 200 years or 30 years. We especially love discovering "forgotten classics" and finally reading those books that have been on our To-Be-Read List. A new visitor to the Classic Book Club can expect both light-hearted and serious discussions of that month's selection, as well as lots of laugher, conviviality, and "what else are you reading?" conversations.
