About The Author Pulitzer-prize winning author Henry Adams (1838 - 1918) was a Harvard graduate, historian and descendant of two U.S. Presidents. His father, Charles Francis Adams, was Abraham Lincoln's ambassador in London, and this post influenced the young man, educating him in wartime diplomacy and English culture. He was well known for his History of the United States During the Administrations of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, a 9-volume work.
