The Red Necklace by Sally Gardner.
Love story about a gypsy boy named Yann and a girl
named Sido. The Marquis Sido's father hates her. Count Kalliovski who loans
people as much money as they need, just as long as they tell him their
deepest secrets. Then Yann goes to live with Mr. Laxton, one of Sido's
relatives, to learn English. That's when the French Revolution begins. He
decides he must go help Sido so she does not have to marry the villian Count
Kalliovski. The Count will kill his borrowers with a red necklace if they
don't pay him back. So Yann goes to save Sido, When he finds her, and kills
Kalliovski. It was a great read.

A book about a bad cat who gets dirty, and has to
take a bath. Then the book tells about getting a kitty and all the supplies
you need to give him a bath. Really funny book and a very quick read.

The Penderwicks On Gardam Street by Jeanne
Birdsall.
I didn't think the author could beat her first book,
but this book is even better. I love The Penderwicks and can't wait
for the next book.
Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles: The Nixie's Song
by Tony DiTerlizzi.
Great book, left you hanging on the edge.
Tunnels by Roderick Gordon & Brian Williams.
One of my favorite books of all times. It was about
two boys that dig tunnels and find a underground world.

The Willoughbys by Lois Lowry
Good, but I think the age should be 5-12. It would
appeal to a younger child's sense of humor.
