Meet young reader Annelise Chaparro.
Annelise is a founding member of Watermark's Young
Reader's Advisory Group; she attends Horace Mann Middle School. When she reads a
book, she wants some love and some humor in it, and she looks for stories that
have something in them that she can relate to. Annelise loves volleyball and
drawing, and her favorite snacks are Cheetos, sushi and chocolate.

Soccer Chick Rules by Dawn Fitzgerald.
This was a really good book. It was relatable and
realistic but wasn't as good as the other books I've read. The book is about
a girl named Tess who loves soccer. The only reason she goes to school is
for soccer, but they are thinking of getting rid of the levy, which provides
the sports teams, so Tess is willing to do anything to get the levy to stay.
Miracle on 49th Street by Mike Lupica.
This is the best book in the world. I loved it. The
best book I've ever read and should be read. It about a girl whose name is
Molly, who lived in London her whole life and is now 12 when her mom died of
cancer. Before she died she told her daughter, Molly, the truth about her
father. She said that he is Josh Cameron, the most famous basketball player
in the U.S. And when she goes to the U.S. she sets out to find her father
and prove to him that she is who she said she is.

Scarlett by Cathy Cassidy.
This book was really good. It's about this girl whose father left her for
another family and now hates him. She lives with her mom and she has been to 5
schools in 2 years and when she gets kicked out of her 5th school her mom sends
her to live with her dad and she has to figure out a way to deal with it.
Hook Up or Break Up by Kendall Adams.
I loved it. The book is about this girl named Quinn that has never had a
boyfriend even though she is in her 4th year of high school. So her friend,
Kerry, cuts out ten pictures of guys that are single and faces them upside
down, then Quinn picks three pictures and has to ask out all three guys. The
after going on a date with all of them, you get to pick which one she stays
with!
